For over 30 years, Donald Coker has provided remarkably cost-effective Law Office Systems Consulting services to Solos, small and mid sized Law Firms throughout the country. His expertise is sought after as a consultant, a speaker, a writer and an independent advisor to Law Firms.
Our consulting firm specializes in five related, yet distinctly different services for Law Firms:

1) Systems Consulting- Often times, the firm wants to get better at what it does. This could be for planning purposes, to improve profitability, to have a "road-map" as to where to go over the next year, to become more organized, or simply to get better at what you do. The problem is that no one in the firm has the time nor the expertise to do the analysis of the firm, and even fewer know what recommendations will make your firm better. An independent set of eyes can help you get a better handle on what needs to be done and in what order to reach your goals.

We will conduct a review and analysis of your existing systems (billing, time keeping, accounting, document production, trust, case management, email, et al.) and making specific recommendations (a plan with timetables) tailored to your firm for organizational, profitability and/or productivity improvements. This is the essence of true consulting. We have seen the inside of literally hundreds of Law Firms, and we have seen what works and what does not. You can learn from our extensive experience in making Law Firms more profitable, more organized and more responsive to client needs.

2) Billing and Accounting Systems - We provide the sale, installation, configuration, implementation, training, customization and support of Billing and Accounting systems. Integrating Billing and Accounting Systems is the best way to become more financially organized, more productive, and more profitable, and you will deliver better legal services to your clients. Your professional life can become far less stressful when everything is under control.

Our goal is to get you implementing, not just planning. Our work is grounded in over 30 years of consulting with Law Firms and their related issues to produce tangible, bottom line outcomes. We use the context of your Law Firm to develop the strategies and behaviors necessary for success in today's client service driven climate. We analyze your needs, then choose the proper software for your needs, then make it work for you.

3) Practice Management SystemsHaving the ability to create a client matter, keep your notes in the file, keep phone calls, research, link documents and scanned images to the file, keep a calendar. LINK EMAILS TO THE FILE(the best benefit EVER!), link people to the file (know who all the parties to a file are), customize the system to suit specific types of law, and many other capabilities make Practice Management Systems a "must-have" for anyone that wants to have  control over their calendar and their workload.

You have heard of the "paperless office". While I do not believe that we will ever get there, you will certainly have the ability to have a paper LESS office. A Practice Management system will allow you to have the file at your fingertips and available at the click of a mouse. The idea is to avoid having to get up and find a file every time you need a simple piece of information.

4) Document Assembly - Automatically creating documents at the click of a mouse is singly one of the greatest ways to improve the productivity and organization of your office. Document Assembly is often used in conjunction with Practice Management to give you the control of the client matters that is so sorely lacking today. It is not at all unusual to DOUBLE the output of work product with the same number of people. We define the documents, set them up and instruct the staff on how to create complex documents at the click of a mouse.

Billing and accounts receivable management has always been the bane of the lawyer's existence. Most lawyers want to just do the work and help the client - not do the administrative side of the practice. Billing requires a set of policies and procedures to make it work - but more importantly it requires attention and management. That means it requires someone to look at the numbers and do something about them. That is a task that most lawyers do not have time, nor the inclination, to do.

This new service: "The Virtual Billing Manager", provides you with the professional billing process management that you need to evaluate your attorney's and staff's billable time, review the creation of draft and final bills, then review the results for billing performance of each member of the firm. We then issue you a series of suggestions as to how to improve the process, or who needs attention in timekeeping and billing. We can also provide timely and efficient accounts receivable management.

Please feel free to ask for further information about the "Virtual Billing Manager".
